Recommended blogs and websites

I’ve found the following blogs to be unique and interesting. I do not recommend blogs lightly, and my list will grow slowly.

Ray Ferrer is the illustrator for my book, “Through the Glass Darkly,” which is a compilation of my short stories and available on Amazon.com. I am  flattered he agreed! His work caught my attention from the start, as I think it will yours.

Ray Ferrer passed away on 5.20.15 from complications due to a brain tumor.

LRs Bizarre Bazaar is without a doubt worth a peek! I don’t know where she finds these sites, but each offering has something I find incredibly unique.

www.kathrynglover.blogspot.com

I know Kathryn Amos Glover as Kathy. She and I grew up together in High Point, NC, and she has become a wonderful artist. Go look at her work, please!

www.postsecret.com

I discovered this website while listening to a local public radio talk show. Frank Warren, the creator of the website, began handing out stamped, pre-addressed post cards in the D.C. area a few decades ago. His request? Write down something, anonymously, that no one else knows about you.

Today Warren has received over half a million cards from all over the world.

It is the quintessential non-religious confessional booth, in my opinion. Scads cheaper than a session with a shrink. As you scan through the cards posted on the site, the urge is to share something personal — that no one knows. It appears cathartic for many. Check it out.

Oh, please go visit this website for a visual mountaintop experience! I’d say more, but words are inadequate.

All writers, aspiring or perspiring, should click above to read a response by Kurt Vonnegut to a request by students of NYC’s Xavier High School in 2006 to visit the school. Several other requests were sent to a variety of  writers. Vonnegut was the only writer to reply, and although he explained he could no longer get about, he provided these students priceless advice.

My favorite Vonnegut novel is Jailbird.

I think, because of the new IOS update, replying to your comment has become exasperating! Let me know if you have not received my replies. Otherwise, please email me at skipmars at gmail dot com as I’ve some questions re your work and potential commissioned work.

In the other sense of the word “charmed,” you are, indeed!
