Make your soul grow

Kurt Vonnegut is a favorite author of mine. In particular, Jailbird. A wonderful satire on the Nixon Watergate years.

In 2006, students in an English class in NYC’s Xavier High School were asked to send letters to their favorite authors, inviting them to visit the school.

Vonnegut was the only author to respond, and although he explained a physical appearance would not be possible, he gave them a short treatise on writing that would go beyond a visit.

All aspiring/perspiring writers should click here for that letter. You will be glad you did.

I wish I had met him. I guess I sort of did through his writing, though.
