Commode Ode

Commode Ode

by L. Stewart Marsden

Altar of many sacrifices
Receiver of residue
Payee of many prices
Partaker of offerings anew

You stand in nowise stained
but remain a porcelain white
despite all you do day and night
is there nothing that you won’t do?

My sincere apologies to the faint of heart, to those who abhor this basic art of commemorating what toilets do, or, as I was tempted to say, what they really do do in the realm of recycling, this king of receptions is never deceived, and receives all he is given. Why not, then, an ode?
