Seamlessly seamless

Seamlessly seamless
by L. Stewart Marsden

Seamlessly seamless
we seemed so to be,
conjoined at the hips
or, perhaps at the lips —
we twirled and we dipped
down the aisle of our life
without any care,
without any strife.

But there’s the rub:
we were seamlessly seamless
at least seemed to be —
to all outside viewers
who viewed you and me
but never did see
the threads, worn and thin,
the seams finally begin
to become unravelled and
moments from breaking
the life we were making
that seemed so
seamlessly seamless.
