The Pundits

The Pundits
by L. Stewart Marsden

The pundits are growling,
howling and yowling;
gnashing and slashing
their teeth and their claws;
forcing their foes against no-escape walls;
giving their view:
interpreting
defining
refining
the false and the true;

The pundits pump up their huge egos e’en more,
all while they pundicize, proclaim and outpour
their superior knowledge,
their vast understanding,
from collab’rative colleges
they delight in their pandering.

Oh, for the solace of silence I seek,
Away from the pundits, among the true meek
Who never proclaim that they know anything,
Content to let live with an aire of caring
and not so wrapped up in a fortress of daring
they have to defend
to the very last shot
whether noble
or not.

The pundits are growling,
howling and yowling;
gnashing and slashing
their teeth and their claws.
