A Sailor’s Life for Me?

A Sailor’s Life for Me?
by L. Stewart Marsden

Bone weary.
Itchy outbreak from what?
Marine paint?
Dust from sanding the wale strake?
Latex gloves from priming the chain strake?
Different exotic woods?

Bone weary.
Six doses of Benadryl,
Topical ointments,
Sandwich beds,
Scratching, itching, scratching, itching,
Fingernails ripping flesh, palms, bottoms of feet.

Bone weary.
Like-minded spirits,
Working to outfit her
Working to prepare her
Working to sail her,
Bone weary, and glad.

Day Nine in The National Poetry Month challenge of a poem a day. Tired and weary.
